AI & Creative Tools Policy

AI-assisted, human-authored, openly disclosed when materially relevant.

Version 0.1 · Updated

Core position

Oculus Festum may use generative tools as part of research, ideation and production, but they do not replace creative authorship. Published work remains subject to explicit human creative direction and approval.

Oculus Festum communicates material uses of generative AI openly. We distinguish between tools that assist the creative process and generated material that becomes part of the published work.

Assistive use

Examples: research, ideation, proofreading, technical assistance, SEO/GEO analysis, reference organisation and non-material production support.

Per-asset disclosure is not required where AI did not materially contribute generated content to the published work.

Human writes. AI assists. The first draft of important public-facing, canonical, editorial or project-specific writing must be written by a human. AI may support revision, comparison, optimization and quality control after the author has established the original wording, structure, meaning and intended tone.

Material creative assistance

Where generative AI materially influences a published visual, text, audio or other creative work, disclosure should appear with the work, in credits or in relevant production notes.

AI-assisted production: Generative tools were used during the production of this work. Final creative decisions, editing and authorship remain with the credited creators.

AI-generated final material

Where generated output itself appears materially in the published work, explicit disclosure is required.

Generative AI disclosure: This work contains material created with generative AI and subsequently directed, selected and edited by the credited creators.

Authorship

Human creative direction and editorial responsibility remain with Oculus Festum and the credited creators. Generative tools may assist the process, but they do not receive or replace authorship.

Safeguards

Do not use generative AI to silently replace an artist who would otherwise be commissioned for the work.

Do not intentionally imitate a living artist as the basis of public work without their involvement or permission.

Do not upload confidential, commissioned or unreleased material to external generative systems unless that use is permitted.

Material use of generated output in final work must be an intentional production decision, not an accidental shortcut.

Final public work remains subject to human creative and editorial review.

Policy updates

The policy may evolve as tools, law and industry practice change.
